A mini devotional kit honoring Santa Rita de Cássia, patron of impossible causes, pairing 0.7 oz of honey-rose-clove resin incense with 6 quick-light charcoal tablets and mini tongs.
Each note in the blend is keyed to an episode of her life. Honey recalls the swarm of bees that gathered around her crib without harming her — taken in her village as a sign of future sweetness of life. Rose is for the bloom her cousin found in the convent garden one January day after Rita asked for one as she lay dying. Clove for the stigma she received on her forehead, a single wound she carried for the last fifteen years of her life.
Rita was born around 1381 in Roccaporena, Umbria. Married against her will at twelve, widowed in midlife, and turned away three times by the Augustinian nuns of Cascia, she eventually entered the monastery and lived there until her death in 1457. Pope Leo XIII canonized her in 1900. Her tomb in the Basilica of Cascia remains one of the most visited Marian-Augustinian shrines in Italy.
