Watch Mass Online: Daily Livestreams and How to Pray Along

You can watch Mass online every day from EWTN at 8 a.m. Eastern, from CatholicTV, and from several of the great cathedrals and basilicas of the United States. Below is a short list of reliable livestreams we keep checked, with their times, followed by a few simple ways to pray along at home rather than just watch.

A livestream is a gift for the sick, the homebound, travelers, caregivers and anyone who wants to add a weekday Mass to an ordinary day. It is not a replacement for being there. As the National Shrine in Washington puts it, there is no substitute for attending Mass in person and receiving the Blessed Sacrament.

Where to watch Mass online

Times were checked against each church's own website on October 2, 2026. Schedules change on feast days and holidays, so the church's page is always the final word.

How to pray the Mass at home

A livestream asks more of us than a parish does, because nothing around the screen says "church." A few small habits help.

Prepare a place. Watch from one spot, not from the kitchen counter with the dishes. A small table with a crucifix or an image of Our Lady, a candle and a Bible is enough. Turn off notifications and put the phone face down if you are watching on another screen.

Begin before it begins. Join a few minutes early. Light the candle, and if you burn incense, light the charcoal now so it is ready with a light grey ash by the opening hymn. Add a few grains of resin as Mass begins and let the smoke rise quietly through the readings. Our guide to burning resin incense on charcoal covers the steps.

Follow the readings. Keep the day's readings open on paper or a second screen. The U.S. bishops publish them each day at bible.usccb.org.

Pray with your body. Stand, sit and kneel with the congregation on screen. Make the responses aloud. It feels strange at first and then it doesn't.

Make a spiritual communion. When the faithful at the church receive Communion, pray the Act of Spiritual Communion of St. Alphonsus Liguori:

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Stay a moment after. When the stream ends, sit in silence for a minute before getting up. Let the incense finish burning while you give thanks.

For your prayer corner

A gentle blend suits a small room and a long Mass. Start with a kit if you have no burner or charcoal yet.

Frequently asked questions

Does watching Mass online fulfill my Sunday obligation?

No. Catholics who are able to attend Mass in person are still obliged to do so on Sundays and holy days. Those who cannot attend because of illness, age, caring for someone, or other serious reasons are excused, and for them a livestream is a good way to stay united to the prayer of the Church. If you are unsure about your own situation, ask your pastor.

What is a spiritual communion?

A prayer of desire to receive Christ in the Eucharist when you cannot receive sacramentally. Many Catholics pray the Act of Spiritual Communion above during Communion at a livestreamed Mass, and the saints recommended it often.

Can I burn incense at home while I watch Mass?

Yes. Burning incense at home is a devotional practice, not a liturgical one, and many families do it during prayer. Choose a gentle blend, use a small amount, keep a window cracked, and set the burner on a heat-safe surface away from anything that can catch.

Which livestream Masses are in Spanish?

The Basilica of Guadalupe streams Mass every day. On Sundays, the National Shrine in Washington, St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles each stream a Misa en español. The times are in the list above.

Is the Mass from Aparecida in English?

No, it is celebrated in Portuguese. Many viewers who don't speak Portuguese still watch, following along with the day's readings, because the order of the Mass is the same everywhere.

How often is this list checked?

We check every link and time on this page every three months. If you find a link that no longer works, write to us at support@clerousa.com and we will fix it.
