The blend draws on the dense, layered character of traditional Italian resin compositions rather than a single named note. It was created as a fragrance of prayer and spiritual combat — an offering of incense to the prince of the heavenly host whose own cry, Who is like God?, is the foundation of every act of faith against the powers that turn the soul from Him.
Michael is named in Scripture in the books of Daniel, Jude, and Revelation as the great prince who stands for God's people and leads the armies of heaven. In 490 AD he appeared above Monte Gargano in southern Italy, where the cave-shrine he claimed for his own veneration remains one of the oldest continuous Christian pilgrimage sites in Europe. He is patron of soldiers, police officers, and the sick, and his feast falls on September 29, celebrated jointly with Gabriel and Raphael in the revised Roman calendar. The Prayer to Saint Michael composed by Pope Leo XIII in 1886 remains one of the most widely prayed Catholic intercessions in the world.
