Saint Francis of Assisi Resin Incense — Olibanum, Myrrh, Natural Resins

A strong, penetrating resin incense honoring Saint Francis of Assisi, composed almost entirely of pure olibanum, myrrh, and other natural aromatic resins in their unrefined state.

The recipe leans into the Franciscan principle of simplicity. The grains are kept in their natural color as extracted from nature — uncolored, uncoated — a direct echo of Francis's call to live close to creation and to receive what God gives without ornament. Francis was born around 1181 in Assisi, the son of a wealthy cloth merchant. After a conversion in his early twenties he renounced his inheritance, embraced absolute poverty, and gathered the first community that would become the Order of Friars Minor — the Franciscans. He received the stigmata at La Verna in 1224, the first recorded saint to bear the wounds of Christ, and composed the Canticle of the Sun in the final years of his life. He died at the Porziuncola in 1226 and was canonized just two years later by Pope Gregory IX. He is honored as Patron of Italy and of ecology.
