The pale blue and white character of the kit echoes the mantle and vestments traditionally used to clothe the small dark image at the heart of the devotion. The lily note keeps the blend light and contemplative — sized for personal prayer rather than the full sanctuary scale needed by the Círio procession that gathers two million pilgrims in Belém do Pará every second Sunday of October.

The original image was carved, by Brazilian tradition, by Saint Joseph during the Holy Family's exile in Egypt, and was found in 1700 by a hunter named Plácido on the banks of the Murutucu stream near the future site of Belém. The Círio de Nazaré, established in 1793, is one of the largest Marian processions in the Catholic world. Our Lady of Nazareth is the patroness of the Brazilian state of Pará and of the Portuguese fishing port of Nazaré.
