A warm resin incense composed of clove and cinnamon on a base of olibanum, the biblical frankincense, created in partnership with Fazenda da Esperança.
The green grains are a deliberate signal of the blend's theme: hope as healing, renewal, and rebirth. Cinnamon carries a scriptural weight — named in the Song of Songs and listed in Exodus 30 as one of the ingredients of the holy anointing oil, and remembered in popular Catholic tradition as one of the spices the women carried to anoint the wounds of Christ on Good Friday. Clove is added to lift the composition with a sharper, more curious note. The olibanum base anchors the whole on the oldest aromatic resin of Christian worship.
Fazenda da Esperança (Farm of Hope) is a Catholic therapeutic community founded in 1983 by Frei Hans Stapel in Guaratinguetá, Brazil, for the recovery of those seeking freedom from addiction — principally to alcohol and drugs. From a single farm in the Paraiba Valley it has grown into a network of more than 160 communities in over twenty countries across four continents, with more than 100 houses in Brazil alone and a dedicated branch for women's recovery. A portion of each sale supports the work of the Fazenda.
