Alleluia is the renamed Gloria — a new name for one of the most widely used Italian-style liturgical perfumes in the Catholic world. The formula keeps the classic profile that has made it a fixture in parishes for decades: a myrrh-forward base lifted by carefully chosen essential oils, composed at a 3/5 intensity that fills a sanctuary quickly with abundant smoke. The fast-burning character makes it well suited to incensations during Mass, processions, and benediction, where a thick, immediate cloud is part of the rite.
Myrrh is one of the oldest liturgical resins in Christian use. Brought by the Magi to the infant Christ and used in the anointing of the body of Jesus after the crucifixion, it carries a long association with both the priesthood of Christ and his Passion. "Alleluia" — from the Hebrew hallelu-Yah, "praise the Lord" — is the great acclamation of the Easter season, sung at every Mass outside of Lent and used as the title of this blend in the spirit of that festal joy.
