The resin recreates an 1850 Carmel of Lisieux blend originally composed by Fr. Charles Dominique Renier, the priest who designed the chapel where Thérèse would later live and die. Olibanum, myrrh, and rose petals are layered in the French perfumery style of the period, producing the deep, complex character of an older European church incense at a full 5/5 intensity. The rose burner echoes the "shower of roses" Thérèse promised to send from heaven.

Thérèse Martin entered the Carmel of Lisieux at fifteen and died of tuberculosis at twenty-four, leaving behind the spiritual autobiography known in English as Story of a Soul. Her teaching on small, hidden acts of love — la petite voie — became one of the most influential spiritualities of the twentieth century. Pius XI canonized her in 1925; John Paul II declared her a Doctor of the Church in 1997, one of only four women to hold that title.
